Internships
An internship with the Center for Sustainable Development is an opportunity to improve sustainability at CofC, build connections to our broader community, and develop your skill and experience as a student and professional. Projects ranging from energy infrastructure and waste management to scientific research and educational outreach allow you to engage with whole-system solutions to real-world problems. Whether you are a volunteer just getting your feet wet or a Sustainability Fellow earning course credit, you can work with us on multiple levels to grow sustainability here at the College of Charleston.
Our interns come from a variety of backgrounds and have a diverse range of academic interests. The diversity in our interns reflects how impactful sustainability is in everybody's lives, and that every person has a role to play in bringing about a more sustainable future.
The Center for Sustainable Development was established in February of 2019 with the merger of the Office of Sustainability and the Sustainability Literacy Institute. The Center’s Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain a holistic education in sustainability literacy through experiential learning, research, public engagement, operational management, and targeted professional development. As advocates for building capacity and open dialogue, The Center provides a supportive and engaging work environment to help team members reach their greatest potential while positively contributing to the campus and greater community.
The Center has recently been re-located to 207 Calhoun Street, behind Addlestone Library. We can be reached from Pitt Street or Calhoun Street.
Don’t have time for an internship this semester? No worries! There are many ways to get involved with the Center’s programs and projects! Feel free to reach out about those opportunities as well!
